CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
More than 844 million people in the world live without access to a basic drinking water service, and about three times that number lack access to basic sanitation. As a result, poverty, migration, chronic diseases are on the rise, and more and more children miss out on school hours.
ACCIONA guarantees people access to water and its sustainable management, and acts as a key player in the water treatment sector. We adopt an innovative management approach to solve the challenges of scarcity in water resources.
CLEAN AND GREEN ENERGY
1 in 8 people still lack access to electricity. To ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, the use of renewable energy has to increase from the current 25 % to 38 % by 2025.
ACCIONA acts as a key player in addressing the growth of energy demand while slowing the progress of global warming and encouraging the transition towards a decarbonised energy model.
INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Economic growth, social progress and action against the climate emergency depend to a large degree on investment in infrastructure, sustainable industrial development and technological advances. One billion people currently live more than two kilometres from a traffic-bearing road, while 940 million live without electricity and 663 million lack improved sources of drinking water.
ACCIONA takes part in the entire value chain for infrastructure construction, from the identification of opportunity, design and execution, to the operation and maintenance of the built works, using the most advanced and innovative techniques.

SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
Cities currently represent 3 % of the planet's surface and contain more than 50 % of the population. A figure that will increase to 70 % in 2050. On top of that, cities generate more than 80 % of the world's gross domestic product (GDP).
In addition to facilitating access to essential life services – such as energy or water – ACCIONA contributes to making cities productive welfare spaces for living, helping people's socio-economic development.
CLIMATE ACTION
Energy generation and usage is responsible for 74 % of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions. This activity is the largest contributor to global warming. Investment in renewable energies, energy efficiency and other low-carbon technologies will continue to be essential in order to meet the new needs of the population and to minimise the negative impact on the environment.
ACCIONA considers the fight against climate change and its related effects to be a strategic priority.
